The Executive Branch Must Act Within Its Authority

To Be Determined

We are seeing an all-out attempt to destroy Donald Trump using the judicial system.  This isn’t new. Since the beginning of time those in power have used all the tools at their disposal to keep their power.  For example, William Tyndale was burned at the stake for publishing the first Bible in the language of commoners, threatening the elites who wanted to keep control of who could read God’s word.  It’s always about a drunken thirst for power; squashing anything that threatens keeping it.

We're not condoning here Trump’s trash talk and personal attacks.  He needs to control his emotions and his tongue (See James 1:19, 3:5-6). At the same time, I loved his policies/accomplishment while President: A secure border, a thriving economy, near full employment (especially for minorities), no runaway inflation, energy independence, no wars, a peace through strength foreign policy, and support for law enforcement and a non-woke military.

But those in power are weaponizing our judicial system, turning a blind eye to their friends while attacking those who threaten their hold on power.

Trump faces multiple indictments.  In the NY civil case and the Washington election interference case judges are trying to muzzle Trump by instituting gag orders.  Both cases raise first amendment issues, balancing the need to ensure a fair trial and Trump’s right to speak freely, especially as part of his presidential campaign.  In the Washington case even the ACLU (which is certainly not supporting Trump’s reelection) has criticized the gag order saying Trump “cannot possibly know what he is permitted to say, and what he is not.”  In the NY civil trial, the judge demonstrated his bias by saying Trump acted fraudulently, doing so before the trial even began and the NY Democrat Attorney General prosecuting the case ran for office on a platform of getting Trump -- who cares on what charges, she’d just get him.  Gag orders that are designed to stop Trump from publicly defending himself in the midst of a campaign highlight the extent to which those who are in power and who are feel threatened will go.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department (DOJ) slow-walked the cases involving Joe Biden’s son Hunter allowing the statute of limitations ran out.  They also offered a sweetheart plea deal for Hunter, which the judge wouldn’t sign off on.  Then DOJ appointed Jack Smith as Special Counsel -- the former Hunter Biden prosecutor -- when their policy has always clearly been to hire an uninvolved outside attorney.  Additionally, when it was revealed Joe Biden received a $40,000 check, and perhaps a lot more, in what has been reported to be a money laundering scheme, in return for favors to foreign interests, DOJ refused to appoint a special counsel at all.

The politicalization and weaponization of our justice system may help those in power who feel threatened, but I contend doing so is wrong.  If our nation is to survive this must stop and stop now.  All of us need to stand for truth and equal treatment for all, not graft, favoritism, and corruption.

  • Not a single of those that disagree with the article have disputed that part which pointed out the most important part of being a president that Trump gave our country, safety, prosperity and consistently negotiated a sound position in diplomacy across the globe.... The two authors of this article have obviously critiqued Trump and themselves with this paragraph "We’re not condoning here Trump’s trash talk and personal attacks. He needs to control his emotions and his tongue (See James 1:19, 3:5-6). At the same time, we loved his policies/accomplishment while president: A secure border, a thriving economy, near full employment (especially for minorities), no runaway inflation, energy independence, no wars, a peace through strength foreign policy, and support for law enforcement and a non-woke military." Trump has a flawed personality but he is a whole hearted patriot with the sound judgement, policies and management skills much needed to Make America Great Again...

  • Ohhhh Mark and Bill!!! First thank you all for writing this op-ed and speaking the hard-hitting, obvious truth about this woke left led America we now live in! We are a country in turmoil ...on the decline, under the Leadership of woke-left individuals who worship Red China, Iran, Romania, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Climate Change! ... You guys hit the "Proverbial Nail" on the head with your "Weaponized Government" observation, because no greater truth has ever been told ... Thank you again. for giving us this op-ed....it was refreshing ...I could breathe ...while reading this! It has been three weeks since an article like this has surfaced on this forum! Hey..good thing I was able hold it together though, ..because I almost got loose here this morning! You two guys have a great Christmas ...

  • Not a single one of those who agree with the article has addressed the big fat orange elephant in the room. If we're going to judge Trump by his policies, then we need to address his policy of defrauding the American public after the 2020 election. The authors, and their fellow believers here, seem to live in a universe where the only thing wrong with Trump is his extremely nasty personality. One assumes that they must believe that his attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government of the United States is something made up...
[The author's believe that then Vice President Pence, being faced with two competing slates of electors in multiple states, should have done what the Constitution provides for. He should have returned the competing lists of electors to each of the state's legislatures and given them ten days to determine which slate should be used. Any state legislature that failed to respond within the ten day limit would default to the electors certified by the state's executive branch. Sure, Trump wanted to win, who else in his shoes wouldn't? But his desire to do as outlined above should not be considered an insurrection, but instead a verification by each affected state of its desire in the matter.]
