Radical Islam and Worldwide Conflict

November 30, 2015

When the U.S. was attacked on September 11, 2001, it was not the first 9-11 between Islamic powers and the Western World. There’s been numerous attempts by Islamic forces over the years to gain world domination.   A number of them have an interesting commonality.  It was on September 11, 1565 when the Ottoman (Islamic) Empire withdrew from the Island of Malta after a failed four months siege to take this Island nation from its Christian inhabitants.  Again, during the Battle of Vienna which occurred on September 11th and 12th in 1683 the Ottoman Empire laid a two month siege to the Imperial City of Vienna.  The invading Islamic Ottoman Empire was soundly defeated by the Western alliance of Poland and the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nations. So efforts by Islamic forces to control and impose their will upon others are not new, it’s been going on for centuries.

World War is always a complicated event and it is easier to see the beginning after it ends.  The spark that started World War I was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in June of 1914.  World War II started when Adolf Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939.

There’re many signs that another major worldwide conflict is brewing, and some may contend has already begun, even though Secretary of State John Kerry, President Obama, and Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton deny that we are even in a cultural war.  Radical Islam under the competing brands of ISIS, Al-Queda and the Muslim Brotherhood are the merchants of death working to drag the civilized world back to the dark ages.

In January, 2015 two heavily armed Al-Queda men with weapons including assault rifles stormed the headquarters of the French satirical weekly newspaper, Charlie Hebdo, killing eleven and wounding eleven inside the building.  They also killed a French National Police officer outside the building. Their rampage of mayhem ended in a gun battle with police, killing five more and wounding eleven others.

On October 31, ISIS used a bomb to bring down a commercial Russian charter jet in the Sinai desert region of Egypt.  Then recently Paris was brutality attacked by ISIS operatives in a large scale slaughter of innocent civilians.  Turkey downing a Russian warplane and the shooting down of a Russian rescue helicopter by Syrian rebels represents just the latest acts of war in this escalating conflict.

What’s at stake in the conflict between Islam and the free world?  Sharia Law is diametrically opposed to the freedoms represented by documents like the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. Sharia Law dictates every aspect of life while The Constitution gives individuals the freedom to decide how to live their own lives.

If there is any hope of avoiding another World War we must have wise and skillful leadership from someone who understands world history, has strong moral courage and who is willing to stand up -- not apologize -- when our freedoms are threatened.
